If you have Microsoft Frontpage, it's easy to edit your site without ftp. If you have never experienced upload files to your webserver using an ftp (file transfer protocol) program, just be glad. It's another program that you have to learn and get IP addresses or URLs just right and in the right boxes and put the password here and the user name there. It's no fun!

Using Microsoft FrontPage, it acts as both your html editor and the ftp program. Just go to your website in Internet Explorer. Choose "File-Edit with FrontPage" and it opens that webpage inside FrontPage, ready to edit (you will have to enter your user name and password). When asked type it in one time and click the box to have Windows remember them. When you're done editing, just choose "File-Save" from the Frontpage menu bar and you are DONE. It's just that easy.

There have been complaints about FrontPage "messing with the html code". FrontPage 2002 has an easy answer here, called Web Component. You choose  "Insert-Web Component", Choose Advanced Control on the left side and wait a few seconds, then on the right side choose HTML then click the Finish Button. (You aren't finished, but click the button to go to the next screen) Then an edit box appears where you paste in any html code that you don't want FrontPage to change. Click OK and you are done.

Html code put in through Web Component is specially marked so that FrontPage will not try to do anything to it.

NOTE At this point, on the "normal page" view in FrontPage you only see a little yellow icon. But when you click to the "Preview mode" view, it will appear just as it is supposed to.

I am here to tell you this part is COOL, COOL, COOL. It makes it really easy. You will actually surprise yourself with what you can do, no kidding.

That's what I did here...started with Host4Profits built-in HTML editor, added a 7-page site (took about 5 minutes) then edited and added pages using Microsoft FrontPage. It comes with some the Developer version of Office XP.
